 Watch Bipartisan Meeting on Health Reform: Febuary 25, 2010 at 10:00 EST

AnnouncementsTuesday, the White House released President Obama's health insurance reform proposal. It supposedly bridges the gap between the House and Senate bills, and includes ideas from both parties.

On Thursday February 25th, 2010 there is an open bipartisan meeting to discuss additional Republican and Democratic ideas for making our health care system work better for the American people.

 Petition Calling for greater Wheelchair Accessibility on Planes

AnnouncementsA petition is being circulated by 18 year old Sally O'Neill calling for greater accessibility on airplanes for people who use wheelchairs.

The petition calls on the airline industry to modify the first seat in the first row to allow passengers with disabilities using wheelchairs to remain in their wheelchairs during flight.

that was passed as part of the House Stimulus Package is endangered, and
will be jettisoned in the Senate version of the bill.

Programs like:

Independent Living funding,
IDEA funding,
Vocational Rehabilitation
and other disability program funding -- all on the chopping block.

Please contact your Senators now! Tell them disability should not be put
last, and that these program are very important not only to provide needed
services but also jobs for people working in these areas.

 Lost Boys News: for March-April 2008 Fundraising Ride

Announcementslostboysroadtour writes "Depending on the weather, there will be a short run to Turkey Run State Park in late march. Dates and times will follow as soon as i can get them to you. March's run will be raising funds for the lost boys foundation. Can't help the people if we have no money you know.

Just briefly the overall goal of the lost boys Road tour among other things is to raise money to help kids with disabilities or chronic illnesses. This is just another example of how small group of ordinary committed individuals can truely make a positive difference not only in their community, but in our country, and even globally. The founder of this project is a young man who has grown up having to deal with a chronic illness himself, and onecandream is proud to support the endeaver. "

 Disability Awareness Expo

Announcementsgogobob writes "On March 1st from noon till 5 pm (EST) we are holding a disability expo in Rochester Indiana at 625 pontiac street.

We have the local mayor giving a proclamation to the city proclaming the month as disibilites awareness month in Rochester. we have vendors bringing displays of what they do and how much change has happened since the signing of the ADA in 1990.

This is the first event and hope to have a good turnout and the best thing is we are doing this at no cost to the public...Bob"
